Continuing our house tour on the main floor…
(If you’ve missed part 1, read it HERE)
MAIN FLOOR
The living room and dining room are pulled together by a three-sided fireplace that articulates them without disrupting the flow of the space.
The dining room sports a beautifully detailed bar with a backlit natural stone backdrop on one side and a custom, Dochia-designed stone-top buffet on the other side of the table.

The functional full-width buffet clad in the same walnut is topped with thick marble-like porcelain to take care of any accidental stains. Ornate antique chandeliers garnish it. They are part of the owners’ antique collection presented in a subdued, home-museum-like display.
Onyx is an excellent material to use in a bar at the head of the table, especially as a backlit element. It makes the party shine as drinks are poured, and conversation builds up when turned on.

As you move from the front of the home toward the back, you pass between the two translucent surfaces: that of the stair screen filtering light and, on your right, the backlit onyx panel of the dining room bar. The effect is like entering an oasis and making the family room and kitchen belong more to the garden than home.
The large-format grey porcelain tiles in the family room and kitchen floor have four decorative tile inserts chosen by the owner, a subtle connection to the soft textile motifs of the artifacts. The light in the space is accentuated thru stark white walls and cabinetry.

SECOND FLOOR
On the second floor, as one comes into the primary bedroom, closets and storage are hidden behind a massive, wallpapered wall that visually declutters the space.
The minimal number of finishes and the careful geometry build an inviting and comfortable space. The block-like space dividers resonate in the primary bedroom as well, where “hers” closet is hidden behind the screen-like midnight blue wall.
