Chris Wilkinson, bridges

“People don’t like not seeing the end of where they are going”
Chris Wilkinson
Even if you are not familiar with the work of this architect but have been to London, you may know one of his beautiful bridges over Thames. The Gateshead Millennium bridge is an elegant addition to the water and pedestrian flow.
Chris Wilkinson, whom I recently heard speak at a lecture here in Toronto, has a romantic view of the built world. His designs reflect his belief that “everything needs to be visually pleasing”.
One of my favourite pieces is the Bridge of Aspiration at the Royal Ballet School, it’s like mid-air dance itself, very poetic, in conception and presentation.
See more here and when in London, keep his work in mind;  definitely something to consider visiting.
